tu ne sais pas

Tu ne sais pas
mais
tu me manques parfois

Tu me regardes
mais
Tu ne me vois pas, tu sais?
autrement
tu saurais

Prête-moi tes yeux…
Si tu voyais
ce que je vois
tu saurais,
tu sais?

Tu me touches
et je brûle
Je te touche
et le monde se fond
mais
c'est pas notre temps
je sais

Tu m'as libéré
mais
tu ne sais pas
Je veux te libérer
mais
tu ne me laisse pas

et donc

je t'attends

tu sais…?

et ça me déchire…

and after a while

After a while
you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand, and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats with your head high and your eyes open,
with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.

You learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow is too uncertain for plans.

After a while you learn that even sunshine hurts when you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth.

(Veronica A. Shoffstall)

Her words hold more truth than I can fathom for the moment.
I'd still like to know what goes on in your mind when you hear my name.

not so hostile take over

Hey people,

Ha! I deserve a kick in the fanny for letting this blog go to waste...
But we're gonna try a different approach... Yet again...

As some of you probably know, I'm in my masteryears, trying to become a graphic designer of some sort. For my independent project, I'm gonna create an alter-ego, and I'm gonna let her run this blog... She still needs some work, no name yet, no personality, all we know is her heart got broken for the first time, she's an artist and she's just trying to find her place in the world.

She's a lot like me in many ways (the word deuh springs to mind). But I find it necessary to create her, in order not to lose myself too much in this artisticky project. Keep a bit of distance, as you will. So whatever happens, it ain't me babe!

First of, the girl needs a name, something old, dreamy sounding...

Eleanor, Nelly-Marie (but you can call her Nell), July, Lilly, Lucia... We'll see.

The idea is to experience different emotions of mending a broken heart through her and trying to find a way to express them visually... Anger, regret, happiness, sadness, euforia, depression...

It's a work in progress, on top of everything else... mmpff

P.S: how's your shop, Lynn?? We haven't heard from it in a while... (Sorry too many ideas, too little time!!)

Lynn's Cabinet of Curiosity

A twinkling 2012 to all of you!
May we spend it looking up towards the sky instead of down at our feet, and may you be swept off them regularly in 2012!

My first resolution!
It's sort of semi official now... I've started a webshop.
For now, it's a facebookpage, because I can reach most people this way. An Etsyshop seemed a little soon... You want to make a little name for yourself first, don't you?

zakjes_003

Eh voila!
This week I printed these paper bags at school!
I know my products aren't ready for sale yet, so actually I have nothing to sell (YET) but every graphic designer knows that packaging is as important as the product, or at least that's what we like to think!
So 100gr_Lynn has a new subcategory >>> Lynn's Cabinet of Curiosity... That sells lots of wonderfully delicate porcelain ornaments and other handmade curiosities (very soon ;) ).

I haven't quite figured out how I'm gonna sell them, I am going to take part in some small faires and markets, sell through my website and make a fanpage on Facebook... I was planning on opening an Etsyshop, but I think that will have to wait. I first want to see how my products work in Belgium before I drop them in the endless ocean that is Etsy.

So very soon you'll hopefully be able to order something from my cabinet... And it will arrive nicely giftwrapped in one of my handmade bags adorned with a ribbon (or two)... I'm also planning on making some cotton stringbags to make it extra special. No need to say I'm really excited. This really takes my mind off other things.

cabinet of curiosity sneak peak

Looks like I kept my promise...
Listed below are some of the decorations I've been making.
What you see is handmade, real porcelain. Decorated with lace ribbon, buttons, tiny tiny tags and handsewn bows. Delicate and lightweight.

There is a shop in Stekene which has accepted to sell some of these ornaments, so if you like... Go to 't Achterhuys, Bormtestraat 152 Stekene. Closed on mondays and sundays.

You can ofcourse also buy them through me, lynn.vdberghe(at)gmail.com.

I really hope you like them and would love to hear your thoughts.

*** restyling ***

Maybe you've noticed, if you've been here before, but I've done some modest restyling. It was time to make everything look a little more neat, I thought...

But when everything is clean and neat, you get bored easily. So I asked my mowwie if he could clean up the css and the mastertemplate and shizzle, which would make it a lot easier for me to move stuff around on my website... Like I do in my room... When I get bored, I move my stuff around, very liberating... And I'm hoping to be able to do the same with my website.

The idea is a kind of treasuremap, where the random items are scattered over the map. So you've got to look around a little bit, scroll left and right and down and up. But I'll start of calmly, making sure you can still see all the seperate parts of the website (menu's, images etc).

So thanks to mowwie for giving me controle over my website again!

So what do I have planned for us?
Well, I'm currently studying in Brussels at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels otherwise known as La Cambre. Quite the mouthful right, I know, but it's quite the famous institution, located in an old (and in places crumpling) abbey, that just has history leaking from every crevice! I had never hoped to have such a wonderful time there, but I am.
I'm studying typography and ceramics and it has just opened a whole new world of possibilities... Hopefully I'll be able to fill you in more visually soon! My hands are usually so covered in clay that taking pictures would prove to be quite the challenge.

My plan is to start up a little shop in handmade curiosities, hence the name 'the cabinet of curiosities' :) you like? Which is why I am currently very busy making things, thinking of a graphic style to present it, testing out certain techniques and materials...

For instance...

cabinet_001

I'm not really sure about the style yet... I want it to be delicate, intimate but peculiar at the same time... I was thinking, maybe I don't have to choose yet, and I can just use them all :) I'm planning to screen print these logotypes on some glassine bags, see how they work, and I'll just choose eventually.

I don't have any pictures yet of the things I'm actually selling, but packaging is just as important you know... :) I hope to take some soon!

quite the emotional setback

anyways, I hope to be able to post some new stuff soon.
Don't think I've been sitting on my ass. (hope to prove that soon)
Have a nice week!

side route

We're going on a world-wide-web-roadtrip...

New school assignment... Make a blog!
And since I'm already having enough trouble maintaining ONE blog :)...
I've decided to forward you, for a while, to 100grlynn.wordpress.com

I will be very busy blogging there, hopefully :)

this is no way to blog

2011 has begun, and I realized I'm going to have to put some more effort in this blogging-thing. Consider it one of my late resolutions, no time like the present to make some...

Let's dive into 2011... And lets really try and dive, no fear, no holding back...
Here's what I would like to do in 2011

* write more things down, in stead of thinking i'll remember them, cause I don't.
* try and raise a good puppy (see picture below)
* think about all the courses I want to take, and try and figure out a carreer idea
* be grateful and content
* blog more
* get my first bachelor diploma
* and... start my own etsy-shop!! :)

exciting? you betcha! 2011 is gonna be a concrete (cement) year
